When measuring an employee’s success, remember that success is not a one-time event. Success and new opportunities to learn, grow or develop should be ongoing. How then do we continue to encourage growth? Help your employees continue to develop in their roles or their careers more broadly. Don’t hire the best and brightest only to tell them, “No” or dismiss their innovations and creativity. This Ted Talk by Carol Dweck on the “Power of Yet” with a “Growth Mindset” has great ideas on helping kids develop a growth mindset, which I think can be applied to adult learners in the workplace as well. https://www.ted.com/talks/carol_dweck_the_power_of_believing_that_you_can_improve
